A sequel to the unconventional, multiplayer action game developed under the aegis of Electronic Arts Corporation by PopCap Games - a studio which until then specialized in casual games. The story of the game once again focuses on the rivalry between plants and zombies. This time, the player is tasked with reclaiming a small city called Suburbia from the hands of living dead. The gameplay of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is similar to the one from the first installment in the series and focuses mostly on multiplayer modes. The player can choose from more than hundred “heroes”, possessing different weapons and special abilities. Among them are both the heroes known from the first game, as well as completely new ones (it is also possible to import your favorite characters from the previous game). Frostbite engine, known from such AAA games as Battlefield or Need for Speed, is responsible for the high quality of the game's visual aspects.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 for PlayStation 4 is the sequel to the multiplayer TPP shooterPlants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare released in year 2014. The game is a part of the Plants vs. Zombiesuniverse, in which plants are fighting against funny zombies, and was developed by PopCap studio, commonly considered to be one of the best companies creating casual games. The company developed such games as Peggle, Bejeweled,Zuma and Bookworm.
Story
Story in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 tells about an eternal battle between plants and zombies. This time the undead managed to completely overrun the Suburbia city, which became Zomburbia. Player’s task is to make things as they were before.
Gameplay
Gameplay in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is mostly focused on multiplayer, but the developers also created a single player mode in which the player faces enemies controlled by AI. However, the main center of the game lies in multiplayer battles.
Game modes
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 offers the game modes known from the first game as well as new forms of activity. Herbal Assault allows up to 24 people to play as plants and Graveyard Ops is a four-person cooperative mode in which zombies are defending themselves from waves of enemies. The game takes place on various maps – there are twelve of them available; among them, the player will find locations set i.e. in space. The list of available characters is long, there are more than 100 character to choose from, including both old friends (The Scientist, Foot Soldier, All-Star, Engineer, Cactus, Chomper, Peashooter, and Sunflower) as well as completely new ones (Captain Deadbears, Super Brainz, Citron and Rose). Owners of the first installment can import most of their characters to the sequel. All heroes have different specializations and weapons.
Technology
The game features a cartoonish graphic design, typical for the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare universe. It was generated using the Frostbite engine, known from such productions like Battlefield 4, Star Wars: Battlefront and Need for Speed. It might not be the best looking game available on PlayStation 4, but it still looks very nice and one can hardly say anything bad about it.
