Another edition of a popular wrestling simulator, developed annually since the release of 2002's WWE Raw. After the liquidation of THQ, the original publisher of the game, Take Two, became the official owner of the franchise. The new edition was created as a result of cooperation between Yuke's (the creators of the previous editions) and the Visual Concepts studio, the developer of the NBA 2K series. WWE 2K15 combines the best mechanics developed over the years with next-gen visuals, offering completely new game modes. The controls were modified, so that they are more intuitive, and the game features even more moves for the player to perform. However, the largest change brought by this edition lies in the visual aspect. Thanks to the new motion-capture technology, more detailed character models, improved graphics, animations, lighting effects, and substantially richer commentary, the new edition highlights the series successful debut on the 8th generation of consoles.
WWE 2K15 for PlayStation 4 is another edition of a popular sports game devoted to wrestling - both a controversial and an extremely spectacular discipline. 2002's WWE Raw is the original game, and for years, the series was published by THQ. After its bankrupcy, Take-Two Interactive became the official owner of the franchise (2013), entrusting 2K Games with the task of creating further installments. The new edition is an effect of the cooperation between the developers of the previous installments – the Yuke's studio, and the Visual Concepts team popular for another flagship franchise belonging to Take Two – the NBA 2K series.
WWE 2K15 for PlayStation 4 combines the best mechanics of the series with a set of improvements in terms of realism and gameplay itself. Thus the player takes control over their favourite wrestlers again, choosing from a wide set of both the current and legendary contestants, including John Cena, featured on the cover of the game. The controls were modified in this edition, so that the player can perform more attacks in more intuitive ways. Thanks to the improved character animations and the new motion-capture technology, the virtual wrestlers behave more natural than in the previous editions. Apart from the standard single and multiplayer game modes, WWE 2K15 features completely new gameplay variants as well.
Cooperation with Visual Concepts turned out to be fruitful, for the game is ultimately rich with the most up-to-date technical elements formerly applied mainly in NBA 2K15. To illustrate, these include graphical improvements, special lighting effects, or faithfully recreated silhouettes and faces of the wrestlers (the latter included only in the versions for the eighth generation of consoles and PCs). The game resembles a TV broadcast as usual, and the gameplay is accompanied by professional commentary. This edition contains five times more of it than the previous installment.
